Honored The Maine Chamber and Business Alliance recently
awarded Rachel Carignan of Winderosa Manufacturing and
Distribution the 1998 Navigator Award for entrepreneur. This award
recognized the fact that Rachel has made an impact on the
economy of Maine while exhibiting a commitment of creative
resources toward professional growth. Winderosa Manufacturing
began in Dixfield in 1968, manufacturing gaskets for
small two-cycle engines. The gaskets are used for snowmobiles,
personal watercraft, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and
other small engines. The business has outgrown its facilities and
moved to Peru, now employing 11 fulltime employees with sales
of nearly $1.5 million in 1996. The company is known around the
world for quality work with outstanding customer
service, exporting to over 36 countries. Due to the outstanding
quality product and service, Winderosa Manufacturing has also
received the
Governor's Award for Business Excellence in 1998.
